Anime review -Venus to Mamoru!

5 out of 5

This is not a new anime, but it is new to me.

This anime is aimed at Tweens/Teens for the most part.

It has some minor Ecchi elements in it, but they do not get in the way of this being a great story.

The story is a romantic comedy with elements of sci fi mixed in.

So check it out for some good laughs and some good cries.

Gamer Wednesday - Monk vs Paladin

I have to say.... I love Paladins.... But I also love Monks. One is your western religious champion. The other is your eastern one. Both are blast to play in games. That is why I love Diablo 3 Monks. They are fun to play. They kick butt. But also the new monk class in World of Warcraft is a blast to play. They kick butt. Despite all of that. The eastern religious factor bugs me. The whole balance, ying/yang bit. So while enjoying them, one needs to guard against falling to that philosophy. Happy Gaming!

Manga Monday - Oh My Goddess Issue 41

So I got Issue 41 today!
I have already read the fan translations online, but it is nice to have the official translations. Now one of the things I love about this Manga is the artistry and it never disappoints. Now, just to wait for issue 42.... Where the contract is redone. Ya, for those not familiar with the story, it is awesome. Go check it out.

Inspirational Fridays - God Grace

Eph 2:8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God. 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. God's Grace amazes me. I am so thankful for it. It has been a rough week, plenty of stumbles, but yet God is there, forgiven and encouraging each step of the way. Remember when you fail, it is just one step to God to succeed. Choose God :-) Have a great weekend!

Gamer Wednesday - Diablo 3

Today is Gamer Wednesday instead of Warcraft Wednesday.... Why? Because I got the Diablo 3 Beta. Blizzard in a stroke of brilliance, to lesson the load on the Wow Beta, gave out Diablo 3 beta to many of us this past week. The game is fun, things from the previous Diablo games are there and new stuff as well. Looting is so much better and not having to worry about having town portal scrolls is nice. The down side to the game..... Paladins..... Paladins are missing..... Except for NPCs that join you known as a Templar. So if you get the invite, enjoy the game and you will see me online playing the full version come this May 15th.

Warcraft Wednesday - Eternity Matters

It is Wednesday, and that means it is about Warcraft. I wanted to write about a great guild I am part of, Eternity Matters. What makes Eternity Matters unique is two things. We love the game and we love Jesus. It is fun being part of a Christian Guild, where you work together with your brothers and sisters in Christ to accomplish the goals in the game. I would say, Eternity Matters is the reason I still play World of Warcraft. If it was not for those people that have so enriched and supported my wife and I, we would not be playing any more. Next Wednesday, I hope to have a treat for you all, so play, have fun, love Jesus and each other.

Anime Monday - Music

One of the things I love about anime is the great music they have.

From full symphonic sound, hip hop, rock, metal.

There introduction and credits have wonderful scores.

Some of my favorites I have as mp3 on my iPad.

Well out of time at lunch, so next week we will hit a few of my other favorite anime songs.

Inspirational Friday - It is finished

Happy Good Friday.

What makes this day good?

In some aspects it is very sad as we remember that Jesus died on the cross today.

The good is that "It is finished"
What is it?

It is the redeeming work of Christ. He paid it all.

Reminds me of the hymn's words....
Jesus paid it all, all to him I owe.
Sin had left a crimson stain, he washed it white as snow.

It is a good Friday because, while I was a sinner, God loved me and sent his son Jesus to take that penalty.

Warcraft Wednesday - Inspirational Gaming

Here we are and it is Wednesday!
Bad thing is work was crazy so I'm getting to blogging at home right now instead of at lunch.
They were talking about world of Warcraft and universal truths that we can find in the game.
First we find the same truths that we did in anime.

Good versus evil
The choices make the man.

I want to focus on the choices makes the man.
In World of Warcraft, many of the villains are originally good guys.
It is their choices in life that lead them to becoming some of the best villains the game that we have to conquer.

Other areas we see reflected in the art of the game.

The world is beautiful and rich. The music is awe inspiring.

All that reflects that the creators of the game are created in God's image.

Well more later on this topic.

Happy Wednesday

Anime Monday - universal themes

Today I'm continuing the theme from this past Friday's Inspirational Friday.
The basic premise is this you can find things that God has made universally known throughout man's works of art, because man being made in the image of God creates things that represent some universal truths.

And in many of the anime works you find theses truths:
It is choices not circumstances that makes the individual.
Themes of love and self-sacrifice despite all odds overcoming the evil in the world.
And then there is this verse that you see in a lot of works:
Romans 12:21
21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

One of the most recent animes really reflective this idea. It is called Heroman and the theme was about what it is to be a hero overcoming evil that have invaded the world.

This is not to say that there are bad themes throughout anime. There are ideas of reincarnation, witchcraft, sexual themes... Just to name a few.

So one needs to be careful and run from the bad to the good.

Join me wednesday when we finish this series in the World of Warcraft.

Inspirational Friday - God in art

Welcome to Inspirational Friday.

Fridays are about my journey with God and the things He has impressed on me to share.

Today's topic will actually go over the next few blog posts going into Anime Monday and Warcraft Wednesday topics.

To begin with, I believe God created all things, in a perfect state in the beginning.

He gave us freedom to choose, because he did not want robots. Our ancestors were tricked and chose poorly to sin.

God setup redemption through Jesus Christ.

Now we being in the image of God have the ability to creates wonderful things in art, culture, literature, music, etc. We also use themes consistent with self sacrifice and redemption.

The scriptures say that God is evident in nature, the universe declares his Glory.

I find it amazing that even in pagan cultures, you can find universal truths God has revealed to all mankind.

Monday we will explore this in the anime culture, while Wednesday we will look at it in the Warcraft game world.

Have a great weekend!

Warcraft Wednesday - Panda Monks

Welcome to Warcraft Wednesday where I blog about World of Warcraft stuff.

Today I write about panda monks from the beta.

I love them so far and it will be a debate if therigwin stays my main.

First the did not take out auto attack, but e flow of combat is good. It is a mix of rogue and death knight play style.

Still need to level up further, but I expect good things from these pandas.

More on it next Wednesday

Anime Monday

Part of blogging I learned is to set up a consistent schedule.
So Monday is going to be Anime Monday!

I will blog about anime on Monday.

For those not familiar with anime, it is animation that originated in Japan.

They have children's stories to adult stories as it is the prime medium in Japanese media entertainment.

Now the show I am going to write about today is not technically anime. Some would call it Ameranime (anime made by the USA).

The best one is Avatar the last air bender by nickelodeon.

But I want to blog about "The Legend of Korra" which is the sequel to Avatar.

The released the first two episodes at Korra Nation this past weekend.

The actual shows starts later this April on Saturdays at 11am.

All I can say is this show looks very good so far, continuing the story.

It would be a 5/5 recommendation if it did not contain all the eastern mysticism in it. But it is still very good show showing the conflict between good and evil and coming of age.

I can't wait for this series to begin.

Man Camp 3

Saturday Night

God's blessings abound.

We saw many come to the Lord tonight.

Myself, I have recommitted to be the husband and father I need to be, in walk with my Savior Jesus Christ.

Man Camp 2

Saturday lunch

It is lunch time and it is steak sandwhiches and cheesy fries and chili.

All I want is a lite salad as breakfast was so much food anyways.

We shall see what I get in a few minutes as I am reserving the table.

Woot, got a salad.

This afternoon holds a nap and archery.

Man Camp

Friday

This is going to be a multi post during the weekend that will all get posted up once I have connectivity back to internet.

It is Friday and I road to camp with pastor Steve. It was a good drive and we got to catch up on things. Camp is at Miracle Camp south of Kalamazoo MI.

It is a nice camp, but Barakel is much more beautiful.

That aside, Tom Harmon is the speaker this weekend.

This is the first he has spoken at this camp but I love to hear him preach.

Following his routine, he gave a gospel speech. This one being his testimony, followed up by explaining the gospel. I think 5 guys went forward at the end and accepted Jesus Christ as their savior.

I look forward to see how God will work this weekend.

Saturday

Above is a picture of the worship band practicing.

Tom was an excellent speaker this morning, but they need to give him more time.

His message was one I had heard before at Camp Barakel.

Draw a line, take a stand, stand on God's truth.

On a plus side found a wifi hot spot, so I will be posting this sooner!

Last I got a shirt.

I guess for supper tonight I get to grill a steak.

Say Hello to Muichan

Yup, I am in the World of Warcraft®: Mists of Pandaria Beta.

And this is my monk, Muichan. This may be the first time I am really tempted to put Therigwin to the side and choose a different main. I still have to see how paladins play, so Therigwin may still stay up there, but so far, I am loving my little panda.

Welcome to my corner

Introductions

Welcome to my new little corner on the inter webs.
I am going to start up blogging again.

I used to blog just about World of Warcraft paladin tanks on my other blog, but here I shall write about all my interests from my faith and family to my gaming exploits and favorite anime shows.

So welcome to my corner, let's have some fun.
